Carrotsticks and Cravings is a hidden gem tucked away in Dempsey Hill serving deliciously nutritious food made with love. The owner, an Aussie living in Singapore, is passionate about superfood and creating healthy recipes (she is also the author of 3 cookbooks).

The setting and ambience of the cafe is cosy and homely; I love the touch of the wicker chairs! The cafe also perfect for a family brunch, encourages customers to take pictures and even provide photo props like wooden spoon and flowers for the perfect flatlays shot, how thoughtful!

Their menu features an array of Aussie breakfast foods such as pancakes, avocado toast, smoothie bowls and salads. They also offer food items that are gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free if that is what you are looking for!

Smashed Avo on Sourdough with Pomegranate

My favorite dish on the menu is definitely Smashed Avo on Sourdough with Pomegranate. Thick creamy layer of mashed avocado smothered on a piece of herbed sourdough, paired with perfectly sous vide eggs that are flavored with sumac and dukkha; this is unlike any of the avocado toasts I had. The random burst of sweetness from the pomegranate was a refreshing touch as well!

Another dish that is noteworthy is the Spicy Shakshouka. Their Shakshouka features two eggs in a lush mediterranean spiced tomato sauce with evoo and crunchy herbed sourdough bread. The slightly warm and thick sauce paired with the crunchy sourdough bread hit me in all the right spots, especially on a rainy afternoon.

Apart from its deliciously nutritious food, the cafe is ideal for a family outing, specific to parents looking for things to do in Singapore with kids. It is also incredibly child-friendly with a kids menu, coloring station, and trampolines to keep the little ones busy and happy!
